Shadow Lounge: The Unseen Scene

Published on Jan 15, 2013
In the spring semester of 2006, Jen Bilec wrote and filmed a documentary about a lounge in Pittsburgh, PA that served as her undergrad thesis at Allegheny College. It explored contemporary performance art spaces in Pittsburgh, rhetorical “free” space, urban development through the arts and film technique. More importantly, this is Pittsburgh, it’s people, it’s art, it’s music, it’s heart and soul, blood and steel.

7 years later, the lounge is now on a hiatus from the space it has inhabited since June of 2000. This space was the catalyst for the reincarnation of East Liberty and it’s surrounding neighborhoods.
